Opel/Vauxhall today asks students: "What do you think is our lounge style?" as part of a new, interactive design competition being launched with Car Design News. The competition is for students studying at design schools (of any discipline) in Europe, and will be in two stages: Stage 1 is the interior, and then Stage 2 the exterior. In the sales race between pony cars, the Chevrolet Camaro is beginning to leave the Ford Mustang in the dust. The Camaro has steadily outpaced the Ford Mustang for the first four months this year--the Camaro beat the Mustang by 2,672 sales in April alone. For the year to date, Chevrolet has sold 30,824 Camaros, compared with Ford's 23,599 Mustangs.
My first Jaguar experience was with the purchase of an XJ6 Coupe which I bought because I thought it was very elegant. The 4.2 straight six never failed to impress in the way the car just disappeared over the horizon in plush silence (apart from some wind noise from the door seals) and I loved the drama of opening two petrol caps and pumping in fuel from both sides of the car. After long fast drives to southern Germany I always arrived as fresh as when I started out. The car attracted admiring interest from everyone including little old ladies!
